Who am I?
I am one of many people who have been shafted by Island Driving School.
 I could be you.
The Driving School mentioned is located on Staten Island.
At present they have two offices.
One on Forest Avenue. and one on Guyon Avenue.

I, and some of my friends have been badly shafted by Island driving.
And now we're fighting back.
We don't want to see Island Driving continue to screw people.
They have purposely set up devious procedures to screw people.
You don't have to take my word for it.
Just go to their reviews, and click on ‘lowest’ reviews.
Start reading the reviews, and you’ll see they go on forever.
What Island does is get the students from the 5-Hour class to give positive reviews.
This way they seek to bury the terrible reviews under the positive ones.
There is a lot to bury.
Such as the fact that they currently have a 3-4 month waiting period.
They will vehemently deny this, despite the fact that dozens claim this.

You can also check the Better Business Bureau website.
You will see the same thing.
Many, many terrible reports of crooked business practices.
And the complaints are quite similar.
Are these dozens of people all confused, or lying.
But Island tries to paint a picture of all of these students being confused.
Before you do business with Island driving,
Be aware of the warnings and advice given here.
Don't be another victim.

One of their tactics is to refuse to give refunds.
This is a violation of DMV’s mandate.
You can read DMVs policy for refunds by the link at the bottom..
Island driving, or any other school, cannot contradict this policy.
Yet Island has violated this Refund Policy for a multitude of people.
You can see it in their Google reviews and the Better Business listing.
Their tactics are sneaky and devious.
Students are surprised to find that a car has come to their house for lessons they weren't aware of being scheduled.
And many other tricky tactics that you can read for yourself.
Just read the reviews, and you will see.

If you are one of those that Island has refused to give refunds to,
Let them know that you are now aware of this policy.
It is a mandatory policy, and there is no expiration date.
You can inform Island that you want any refund due, in full.
Or you will be reporting them to DMV

Don't let them get away with the clause of keeping 10% or 10 Dollars.
The receipt says '... of enrollment fee, if any, specified in the contract or expressly receipted for'
So if you weren't given a receipt EXPRESSLY stating that there is an enrollment fee,
you are to receive your money, in full, for any services not rendered.

The reporting number for DMV on Staten Island is 718 982-4619
The number for Albany is (518) 473-7174
Press option 3, then 3 again, then 2, then 2 again.
You do not need to wait for the options to be listed out.
Once you let them know that you are prepared to call DMV, IF your case is solid,
you will likely not need to call them.
Be sure your case is solid.
You may find that Island driving tricked you into receiving a lesson you didn't know about.
Not kidding
Island driving knows that they are in the wrong.
Additionally, they are mostly taking advantage of young people.
Many times people in their late teens or early twenties.
These individuals may not know better.

Additionally, most of their Instructors don't have a clue on how to train.
Or they just don't care to try.
Island just hires their Instructors and throws them in a car.
Any complaints about this are again just turned onto the student.
It's always the students fault.
Always inquire about the training program a school has for their Instructors.
It will make a HUGE difference.

So if you have been shafted by Island driving, or you know someone who has,
Please share this to protect others from being Taken advantage of by Island Driving.
Please share it even if you personally aren't aware of anyone being victimized.
The more people that know about this, the more can be protected from these wrong-doings.
You can verify this information simply by reading the reviews, or reading the BBB complaints.
